Buy Zimbabwe Conference to Drive Local Production and Boost Economic Growth

HARARE – Buy Zimbabwe will host a conference in Harare on March 19.

The event will run under the theme: “Buy Local, Strengthening Local Value Chains for Sustainable Economic Growth.”

The organisation says the meeting will promote local goods and services. It aims to boost economic growth by encouraging Zimbabweans to buy products made at home.

Buy Zimbabwe chairman Munyaradzi Hwengwere said the theme highlights the role of local consumption in national development.

“The theme is meant to highlight the importance of buying local in driving our economic growth,” he said.

The conference will showcase Zimbabwean products, manufacturing, and services. Organisers say it will help improve market access for local producers.

The event will also aim to build confidence in Zimbabwean brands.

“This is an event that will bring out the best of Zimbabwe,” Hwengwere said

“It will showcase the quality of Zimbabwean-made goods and services.”

More than 400 delegates are expected to attend. These include captains of industry, parastatal executives, and members of academia.

Government officials will also attend.

The Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Mudenda, will be the Guest of Honour.

Other expected dignitaries include Industry and Commerce Minister Mangaliso Ndlovu, Mines Minister Polite Kambamura, and Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development Minister Anxious Masuka.

Members of Parliament and Permanent Secretaries are also expected.

The conference is open to the public. It targets anyone looking for quality products made in Zimbabwe.

Organisers say the event will strengthen local value chains.

They believe stronger local production and consumption can support sustainable economic growth.
