Harare – Zimbabwe Communist Party (ZCP) General Secretary Ngqabutho Mabhena has accused the ruling ZANU PF of abandoning revolutionary ideals, vowing to expose its “true nature.”

Addressing Journalist in Harare on Thursday, Mabhena declared

“ZANU PF is not revolutionary. We must expose it as it is. We are not in alliance with any party in Zimbabwe.”

Mabhena and party members wore T-shirts bearing images of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Burkina Faso’s military leader Captain Ibrahim Traoré, figures he said symbolize resistance to Western hegemony.

Asked why the ZCP would associate with non-communist leaders, Mabhena said the support was based solely on their “stand against imperialism.”

His remarks come as President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government continues to deepen ties with Moscow, framing the partnership as a united front against Western sanctions. Mnangagwa attended the 2023 Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg, underscoring Harare’s alignment with the Kremlin.
