HARARE -Stanley Muchenje is set to take on the role of the new Managing Director of Schweppes Holdings Africa Limited, succeeding Charles Msipa, who departed from the company at the end of April this year.
Muchenje’s appointment follows his redeployment from Afdis (African Distillers Limited). He takes over the leadership from Msipa, who had a nearly two-decade-long association with the prominent beverage manufacturer.
This leadership transition comes at a significant time for Schweppes Holdings Africa Limited, a key player in the region’s beverage industry, known for its diverse range of still and sparkling drinks. Muchenje’s experience within the Delta ecosystem, particularly his tenure at Afdis, likely positions him well to lead Schweppes through its next phase of growth and innovation. His familiarity with the broader group’s strategic objectives could ensure a smooth transition and continued alignment.
Delta Finance Director, Alex Makamure told FinX that, “As indicated Muchenje was recalled from Afdis for redeployment within the Group. He has assumed the position of MD at Schweppes Holdings Africa Limited following the retirement of Charles Msipa.”
A marketer by profession, Muchenje previously held several high-level roles in Sales, Distribution, and Marketing at Delta Beverages. His two-year secondment to SABMiller allowed him to manage beer brands across African markets, where he notably received the SABMiller Mercutus Award.
Muchenje’s academic qualifications include a Business Studies Honours Degree from the University of Zimbabwe and an M Phil in Marketing from the Institute of Marketing Management in South Africa. He also participated in various senior management programs, including the accelerated Leadership Development Programme at GIBS Business School.
