Harare – The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has arrested NetOne Cellular (Pvt) Ltd Chief Executive Officer, Raphael Mushanawani.
He faces fraud charges involving more than US$1.2 million.
According to ZACC, the case dates back to 2022.
NetOne had engaged Farevic Systems (Pvt) Ltd to replace its SAGE 1000 system with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The contract was valued at US$3.5 million.
While that project was still underway, Mushanawani allegedly worked with finance official Christopher Muchechemera.
The two are accused of secretly engaging Lunartech Solutions (Pvt) Ltd to upgrade the old SAGE 1000 system at US$257,600.
ZACC says Mushanawani later signed two more contract addendums.
The add-ons pushed the cost of upgrading the outdated system to US$1.2 million.
Investigators also allege he signed another contract with Diztech (Pvt) Ltd for US$79,467.
The consultancy and training services covered in that deal were already part of the Farevic Systems contract.
Mushanawani will appear at the Harare Magistrates Court on Tuesday, September 30.
