The Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Zimbabwe, Dr. Tamer Almassri, strongly condemns the brutal Israeli assault on the Flotilla of Resilience in international waters, which was sailing peacefully toward Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid and challenge the illegal blockade imposed on more than two million Palestinians.

Dr. Almassri denounced this act of piracy as another manifestation of Israel’s ongoing genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people and all those who stand in solidarity with them. He stressed that the attack, carried out in clear violation of international law, exposes Israel’s disregard for human rights and its persistent defiance of global norms.

The Ambassador highlighted the appalling treatment of detained activists, including Swedish environmentalist Greta Thunberg, who was reportedly held in harsh and degrading conditions — suffering dehydration, insect-infested cells, and physical abuse. Eyewitnesses described how Israeli forces dragged her by the hair, forced her to kiss the Israeli flag, and subjected her and other activists to humiliation.

While the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs falsely claimed that the detainees were “treated respectfully,” the Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir openly boasted that the activists were handled as “terror supporters,” proudly confirming the very abuses his government denies.

Dr. Almassri emphasized that such hypocrisy and brutality reveal the true face of Israel’s apartheid regime, which continues to act with impunity and arrogance. He called on the international community, the United Nations, and all states committed to justice to condemn this act of aggression, demand accountability, and end the decades-long blockade of Gaza.

The Ambassador reaffirmed Palestine’s deep appreciation for the courage of all international activists who risked their safety for freedom and humanity, declaring that their moral stand will not be silenced.

“The world must not remain indifferent,” Dr. Almassri stated. “This is not only a crime against Palestinians — it is a crime against conscience and humanity itself.”
