Invictus Energy says it has identified potential hydrocarbon traps following receipt of final processed data from its 2D seismic survey over the Muzarabani gas-condensate prospect in Mashonaland Central.

Muzarabani is potentially the largest, undrilled seismically defined structure onshore Africa, according to Invictus

The data from the 2021 Cabora Bassa 2D Seismic Survey is currently being interpreted alongside reprocessed data from the 1990 Mobil survey.

The company noted that the parameters employed for its survey alongside modern data processing technology have significantly elevated the data quality to a high standard.

Multiple anomalies that could indicate the presence of hydrocarbons have been noted so far.

These will be investigated with additional data processing products before their geophysical signature as well as trapping geometry and position are evaluated.

This will allow the company to assess and rank the likelihood of viable hydrocarbons within a definable trap.

“The final seismic data has provided evidence of multiple trapping geometries and a target rich environment for the upcoming drilling program,” managing director Scott Macmillan said.

“The drilling campaign is scheduled to commence in June 2022 and we are working towards a two-well program.

“The company is maturing additional potential within our acreage and continuing to build on our significant prospective resource inventory.”

Invictus said while seismic interpretation was still in progress, multiple potential hydrocarbon indicator anomalies were noted in the Cabora Bassa basin’s data.

“The company is maturing additional potential within our acreage and continuing to build on our significant prospective resource inventory,” he said. viagra annonces

The Cabora Bassa project takes in the Muzarabani prospect, an 8.2 trillion cubic feet and liquids rich conventional gas condensate target.

Earlier this month, Invictus awarded an integrated well services contract to global oilfield service provider Baker Hughes for Caborra Bassa.
