HARARE – The National Railways of Zimbabwe is set to refurbish and construct new railway tracks and signaling equipment for the Gweru-Harare route under a US$15 million facility from Russian investors.

Last year, the State-owned entity held an investment meeting with Russian investors where it was seeking US$34 million for infrastructure development that includes the railway line and signalling.

“We are expecting US$15 million before April from the negotiated US$34 million for the refurbishment and construction of the new railway tracks by the Russian investors. This came out during an investment meeting between NRZ management and Russian investors,” said Andrew Kanambura, NRZ spokesman.
