Harare- Simbisa Brands’ Chicken Inn has slashed the price of its popular 2-piecer meal to $3, down from $3.50, as competition heats up ahead of the opening of rival South African franchise Hungry Lion in Harare.
In a statement on its social media platforms on Wednesday, Chicken Inn announced:
“Chicken Inn lovers, this one’s for you! Your fave 2 piecer, fries and a 330ml Pepsi for just $3 — now that’s a HOT DEAL! Only at Greenfields Mall, corner Samora Machel Avenue and Hampden Street, Harare.”
The deal is exclusive to Greenfields Mall, where Hungry Lion officially opens its doors on 7 August 2025. The South African brand, famed for its crispy fried chicken and low-cost meals, has been hyping its entry into Zimbabwe on social media for weeks.
The post sparked a heated reaction, with some Chicken Inn fans praising the price cut while others blasted the brand’s quality, one accusing the chicken of being “dulling blood.”
The price war is expected to intensify in Harare’s fast-food market as new players enter the sector.
