HARARE (FinX) – Masawara Investments Mauritius Limited (MIML) has announced a significant change in its shareholding structure following the sale of a 40% stake previously held by Sanlam Allianz Africa Proprietary Limited.

The equity was taken up by Raindere Investments (Proprietary) Limited (“Raindere”), establishing a new strategic partnership for the diversified investment holding company. The majority shareholder, Masawara Holdings Mauritius Limited (MHML), retains its controlling interest and will continue to guide the Group’s leadership and long-term strategic direction.

MIML stated that this transaction is aligned with its broader capital-strengthening programme, which aims to deepen partnerships and position the group for its next phase of expansion across its core African markets.

The entry of Raindere is expected to enhance MIML’s investment capacity, unlock access to additional sector expertise, and broaden regional networks to support future growth initiatives. The group believes the strengthened shareholder mix will add depth to its ongoing strategic programmes.

The restructuring does not introduce any operational adjustments. Management teams, leadership structures, and governance frameworks will remain the same. Raindere leans more towards capital raising.

Masawara group CEO Shingai Mutasa welcomed the change, describing it as a strategic step that prepares the group for greater opportunities. “This strategic realignment positions Masawara to take its portfolio to the next level. We are excited to partner with Raindere, whose vision aligns with our ambition to create enduring value for Africa,” he said.

Chengetai Chikwanha, Raindere chairperson, expressed pride in joining Masawara at this pivotal moment, noting the move would support MIML’s ambition to drive sustainable growth, deliver value to stakeholders, and strengthen the performance of the businesses.

Masawara’s portfolio includes growth companies operating across Southern Africa in sectors such as financial services, hospitality, technology, property, and agro-chemicals.
