CBZ Holdings, ZSE Holdings lead ZSE higher; Caledonia Mining reverses earlier surge on VFEX

HARARE — The Zimbabwe Stock Exchange advanced Tuesday, led by a strong session for CBZ Holdings and a rise in Zimbabwe Stock Exchange Holdings itself, as the All Share Index gained just over 1%. On the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange, the All Share Index also firmed, even as Caledonia Mining Corporation gave back nearly a tenth of its value in a reversal of Thursday’s 27 August surge.

The All Share Index added 4.92 points, or 1.03%, to close at 482.31 against the previous session’s 477.39, lifting total market capitalisation to ZWG108.04 billion (US$4.03 billion), converted at Tuesday’s official exchange rate of ZWG26.7991 to the US dollar.

Concentration among the exchange’s largest counters held broadly steady, with the top ten counters by market capitalisation accounting for 86.57% of total value, or ZWG93.54 billion (US$3.49 billion). Delta Corporation led at 39.43% (ZWG42.60 billion / US$1.59 billion), with CBZ Holdings second at 20.26% (ZWG21.89 billion / US$816.64 million) and FBC Holdings third at 8.34% (ZWG9.01 billion / US$336.27 million).

Turnover reached ZWG12,786,873.75 across 92 trades, on volume of 1,992,700 shares, while foreign investors were absent from the board entirely. Proplastics Limited led volumes with 1,429,700 shares changing hands for ZWG2,187,441.00, gaining 13.33% to 153.00 cents. Delta Corporation led value traded, with 228,400 shares worth ZWG7,218,850.20, easing slightly to 3,160.62 cents.

FBC Holdings continued to ease in the days following its own half-year 2026 results. The counter shed a further ZWG8.7800 to close at ZWG1,341.1200, a decline of 0.65%, on modest volume.

Among the blue-chip gauges, the ZSE Top 10 Index added 1.38% to 486.71, and the ZSE Top 15 Index gained 1.25% to 497.83. The Small Cap Index and Mining Index were both unchanged, at 100.11 and 169.11 respectively.

The Mid Cap Index bucked the broader advance, easing 0.47% to close at 493.90. Zimbabwe Stock Exchange Holdings led all gainers, up 15.00% to 333.50 cents. Proplastics Limited’s 13.33% advance was noted above, CBZ Holdings’ 7.37% gain was also noted above, Rainbow Tourism Group added 6.09% to 165.00 cents, and Turnall Holdings edged up 0.53% to 14.00 cents. Afdis Distillers also firmed modestly, adding ZWG1.0000 to close at 1,725.0000 cents.

Losses were led by Tanganda Tea Company, down 5.87% to 415.00 cents. Ariston Holdings eased 5.55% to 5.03 cents, Hippo Valley Estates slipped 3.61% to 1,060.25 cents, ZB Financial Holdings gave back 2.86% to 680.00 cents, and Seed Co Limited eased 1.02% to 490.92 cents.

Several heavyweight counters saw no trading activity at all and closed unchanged, including British American Tobacco Zimbabwe (18,000.00 cents), Cafca (2,500.00 cents), CFI Holdings (690.00 cents), NMB Holdings (595.00 cents), Dairibord Holdings (500.00 cents) and First Mutual Holdings (335.00 cents).

In the property and fund segment, Revitus Property Opportunities held flat at 213.2500 cents, while Tigere Real Estate Investment Trust eased 0.1554 cents to 108.0006 cents. Among the ETFs, the ZSE ETF Index added 0.08% to 593.27. Cass Saddle Agriculture gained 11.40% to 13.50 cents, while Morgan & Co Made in Zimbabwe eased 0.62% to 12.00 cents; Datvest Modified Consumer Staples and Morgan & Co Multi-Sector both held flat, at 8.00 and 170.00 cents respectively.

Across the floor, the VFEX All Share Index added 1.33 points, or 0.51%, to close at 260.23 against the previous session’s 258.90. Total market capitalisation on the dollar-denominated bourse stood at US$8.12 billion at the close.

Turnover reached US$686,987.35 on volume of 951,672 shares across 140 trades. Foreign investors were active on both sides: purchases totalled US$22,425.00, led by Padenga Holdings (US$14,820.00 on 11,400 shares) alongside smaller purchases in Simbisa Brands (US$225.00) and Old Mutual (US$7,380.00); sales reached US$447,770.55, almost entirely a US$447,276.60 block in Old Mutual (496,974 shares), alongside nominal sales in Innscor Africa (US$385.95) and Caledonia Mining (US$108.00).

Old Mutual led value traded, with 503,834 shares changing hands for US$453,462.35, edging up 0.72% to 90.00 cents.

TSL Limited led all movers, up 13.91% to 24.00 cents.

Caledonia Mining Corporation led all losses, tumbling 9.73% to 3,610.00 cents — reversing much of Thursday’s 19.80% surge. Invictus Energy Limited Depository Receipts fell 9.48% to 13.47 cents, Axia Corporation eased 4.94% to 13.28 cents, Zimplow Holdings slipped 1.84% to 11.19 cents, and Econet Infraco’s 0.22% decline was noted above.

In the fund segment, the First Mutual Wealth Gold Exchange Traded Fund added 0.09% to 11.00 cents. Among the REITs, Eagle Real Estate Investment Trust Fund gained 0.92% to 33.00 cents, while Pfuma Fund Real Estate Investment Trust eased 0.43% to 13.91 cents.
