HARARE — The Zimbabwe Stock Exchange extended Tuesday’s advance on Wednesday, with CBZ Holdings rising for a second consecutive session and Dairibord Holdings also firming significantly, as the All-Share Index gained a further 0.84%.
On the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange, the All Share Index eased 0.32% despite a strong rebound in Caledonia Mining Corporation, which reversed most of Tuesday’s decline.
The All-Share Index added 0.84%, to close at 486.34 against Tuesday’s 482.31, lifting total market capitalisation to ZWG108.99 billion (US$4.08 billion).
Concentration among the exchange’s largest counters held broadly steady, with the top ten counters by market capitalisation accounting for 86.55% of total value, or ZWG94.33 billion (US$3.53 billion). Delta Corporation led at 36.87% (ZWG40.19 billion / US$1.50 billion), with CBZ Holdings second at 23.02% (ZWG25.09 billion / US$939.04 million) and FBC Holdings third at 8.27% (ZWG9.01 billion / US$337.31 million).
Turnover reached ZWG1,998,759.72 across 146 trades, on volume of 338,369 shares, while foreign investors were absent from the board entirely. Zimre Holdings led volumes with 108,200 shares changing hands for ZWG75,511.50, its 9.33% decline noted below. Delta Corporation led value traded, with 33,675 shares worth ZWG1,005,957.30, easing 5.66% to 2,981.71 cents.
CBZ Holdings extended its rally for a second straight session, gaining a further 14.63% to close at 4,800.00 cents – on top of Tuesday’s 7.37% advance – lifting the counter’s share of total market capitalisation to 23.02% from 20.26% two sessions ago and narrowing the gap with market leader Delta.
The ZSE Top 10 Index added 0.88% to 490.98, and the ZSE Top 15 Index gained 0.67% to 501.18.
The Mid Cap Index added 0.64% to close at 497.07. Dairibord Holdings led gainers, up 14.80% to 574.00 cents. StarAfrica Corporation added 10.34% to 4.50 cents, Nampak Zimbabwe edged up 0.89% to 87.27 cents, and Proplastics Limited’s 0.87% advance took it to 154.33 cents; CBZ Holdings’ 14.63% gain.
Losses were led by Zimre Holdings, down 9.33% to 69.79 cents. Ariston Holdings eased 2.28% to 4.92 cents, General Beltings Holdings gave back 2.27% to 8.60 cents, and TN Cybertech Investments Holdings slipped 1.85% to 29.48 cents.
In the property and fund segment, Tigere Real Estate Investment Trust added 0.0112 cents to close at 108.0118 cents, while Revitus Property Opportunities held flat at 213.2500 cents. Among the ETFs, Datvest Modified Consumer Staples gained 6.25% to 8.50 cents; Cass Saddle Agriculture, Morgan & Co Made in Zimbabwe and Morgan & Co Multi-Sector all held flat, at 13.50, 12.00 and 170.00 cents respectively.
Across the floor, the VFEX All Share Index eased 0.83 points, or 0.32%, to close at 259.40 against Tuesday’s 260.23.
Turnover reached US$539,587.03 on volume of 1,341,812 shares across 198 trades. Foreign investors were active on both sides: purchases totalled US$357.14, split between Kavango Resources (US$113.34 on 5,667 shares), Old Mutual (US$147.60 on 164 shares) and Padenga Holdings (US$96.20 on 74 shares); sales reached US$2,185.54, led by a US$2,040.00 sale in Caledonia Mining (51 shares) alongside smaller sales in Edgars Stores (US$96.66) and Old Mutual (US$48.88).
Padenga Holdings led value traded, with 311,774 shares worth US$406,612.77, edging up 0.42% to 130.42 cents. First Capital Bank traded US$61,145.11 on 406,658 shares, essentially unchanged at 15.04 cents.
Caledonia Mining’s 10.80% rebound led all gainers, as noted above. Edgars Stores’ 9.58% and Kavango Resources’ 6.28% advances were also noted above, alongside Axia Corporation’s 5.42% gain and Zimplow Holdings’ 1.07% edge to 11.31 cents.
TSL Limited led all losses, tumbling 11.54% to 21.23 cents — a reversal of Tuesday’s 13.91% advance. Seed Co International eased 5.53% to 42.05 cents, Econet Infraco slipped 1.36% to 22.49 cents, and Simbisa Brands eased 0.13% to 74.56 cents.
In the fund segment, the First Mutual Wealth Gold Exchange Traded Fund eased 4.18% to 10.54 cents. Among the REITs, Eagle Real Estate Investment Trust Fund fell 14.27% to 28.29 cents, while Pfuma Fund Real Estate Investment Trust eased 0.07% to 13.90 cents.
