HARARE – The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training will this month host the inaugural National Youth Empowerment Symposium, aimed at strengthening collaboration between young people, government, and the private sector.
The two-day event, running under the theme “Empower the Youth, Secure the Future,” will be held at the Harare Agricultural Showgrounds from October 21 to 22, 2025.
Youth Empowerment Minister Tinotenda Machakaire said the symposium seeks to bridge gaps in information sharing, mentorship, exposure, and market linkages that continue to limit youth participation in the economy.
“The symposium seeks to address information, mentorship, exposure, and market linkage gaps that hinder youth participation in the economy,” Machakaire said.
“It aims to inspire innovation, productivity, and entrepreneurship among young people while fostering a mindset shift in line with Vision 2030, which envisions an empowered upper middle-income economy driven by productive citizens, including the youth.”
President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to officiate at the event, which will also feature the launch of the National Youth Empowerment Strategy a framework for structured youth development programming and coordination.
More than 200 youth-led enterprises from across Zimbabwe are expected to participate, showcasing innovations in agriculture, ICT, creative arts, sports, green energy, tourism, mining, and manufacturing.
“This is not just an event but a movement to unlock the potential of our youth, secure our nation’s future, and drive inclusive growth,” Machakaire added.
