HARARE – CIMAS Health Group has launched the CIMAS at the 80 Media Awards in partnership with the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ) to recognize and reward excellence in health journalism.

The awards aim to promote ethical and life-transforming healthcare reporting in Zimbabwe. By encouraging accurate and informative health reporting, the initiative seeks to improve the quality of health information available to the public.
The awards have four categories: healthcare transformation, health and wellness, excellence in medical innovation, and public health awareness. Journalists are invited to submit their stories, research, or reporting in any of these categories between now and October 31. A panel will review the submissions, and the winners will be announced at the award ceremony on November 20.
Speaking with the media this morning in the capital, the group CEO Vulindlela Ndlovu noted that, “The awards aim to promote ethical and life-transforming healthcare reporting in Zimbabwe. By encouraging accurate and informative health reporting, the initiative seeks to improve the quality of health information available to the public.”
He added that the company believes that promoting health and wellness requires collaborative efforts and is open to partnering with media houses, locals, and journalists’ associations to inspire healthier communities.
“By working together, we can achieve our goal of making health a right, not a privilege. We encourage media partners to hold us accountable, amplify stories of hope, and debunk myths that harm public health. Together, let’s build a Zimbabwe where everyone has access to quality healthcare.”
The prizes for the awards are substantial, with the overall winner in each category receiving $1,500 and the runner-up receiving $750. This recognition and reward system is designed to motivate and encourage journalists to produce high-quality health reporting.
The CIMAS at 80 Media Awards is an important initiative that aims to promote health journalism and encourage journalists to play a vital role in shaping a healthier society.
