Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devlolution Mary Mliswa-Chikoka has tested positive for COVID-19, her brother Temba Mliswa announced on Thursday.

Norton legislator Mliswa announced on Twitter that her sister was diagnosed but was in a stable condition.

“Hon. Mary Mliswa-Chikoka has been positively diagnosed with COVID-19. She’s currently in a stable condition. It’s believed she may have contracted it around Monday and therefore anybody who may have been in contact with her from then is advised to go for testing

“As we keep her in prayer for a speedy recovery, I reiterate my warning for everyone not to relax. COVID-19 is real and we must mask up in public, wash our hands and sanitise and maintain social distancing at all times. Stay at home where necessary,” Mliswa said.

Mliswa-Chikoka is the second provincial minister to contract the novel coronavirus among several senior government who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister for the Midlands is also under self-quarantine after testing positive of the COVID-19 virus.

Zimbabwe has so far recorded 8 945 cases of the COVID-19 virus with 260 deaths while the number of positive cases jumped to 294 this week from 109 announced by government last week.
