Zimbabwean-born singer Gugulethu “BERITA” Khumalo is surviving on a 90-day visitors pass in her South African base despite making a huge contribution to the South African music industry

The 31-year-old revealed this on the “Podcast and Chill with Mac G” when the host posed a question on what challenges she has faced ever since she moved to South Africa

“pretty privilege has helped me, but I have struggled in getting a visa because there isn’t an entertainment visa, I have contributed greatly with my music to South Africa and I will continue to contribute but I also understand that immigration is  a difficult thing a different department all together”

When asked by Mac G if she didn’t have a South African Identity card she responded she doesn’t have any

“at the moment I am a visitor in this country, I am on a visitors permit and every 90 days I have to renew”

“Well I tried to apply for a work permit but you have to prove that you have got an employer I am self-employed and since 2016 they have been saying that there is going to be an entertainment visa and to this day it hasn’t been put into effect”

Berita was married to a South African Artist Nota Baloyi, and during the marriage failed to get a spouse visa.

She was accused of marrying Nota so she could get a South AFRICAN Visa

“So I was in the process of applying for a spousal permit but I didn’t get married for the visa, thus has been the speculation there was a moment that I could still stay in Zimbabwe and still come to this side (SOUTH AFRICA) to work and go back t Zim but I think the issue is there isn’t a designated entertainment visa while in other countries they do exist”

“I am going to Germany, my next project is a European single, my visa for going to work there was approved within 24 hrs and I am going there for 3 months and if I need to stay longer they do have provision for that’ said Berita

Berita has been banging South African Awards since 2011, and this includes a SAMA and Metro Fm awards just to mention a few
