Government will this year subsidize examination fees for candidates sitting for Ordinary and Advanced Levels in 2021

Government is subsidizing examination fees for candidates in public schools by at 55 percent of the total fees although those in private schools and colleges including private candidates in public schools will pay the full amount.
According to the Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council, the full cost for the 2021 Ordinary and Advanced level will be $1 648.00 and $2 400.00 per subject, respectively.
Candidates in public schools will pay 45 percent of the full cost while those in private schools and colleges including private canditates in public schools will pay the full cost of the examination.
Last year, government released $150 million to ZIMSEC to subsidize fees for pupils in public and not-for-profit mission schools.
Government has been investing heavily in education over the past three years resulting in vastly improved infrastructure and better quality learning.
Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the pass rates for the 2020 Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations remained within the normal range.
Furthermore, government contribution will be for seven subjects at Ordinary Level and 4 subjects at Advanced Level.
